7 killer tactics to Create Amazing Customer experiences

7 killer tactics for creating amazing customer experiences, according to one of the best experience strategists

When looking for killer tactics for creating amazing customer experiences, you should think of Shep Hyken. Forbes Magazine contributor, customer service and experience expert, he has been helping organizations create amazing customer and employee experiences for a long time.

🧡  We love his philosophy. He is one of our main references when we are looking for inspiration.

Hyken wrote an article featuring a list of tactics to create amazing customer experiences and we loved them so much we decided to make our one selection. Here are our favorite…

Top 7 tactics for creating amazing customer experiences according to Shep Hyken:

1. Send a thank-you note.

Saying “thank you” can make miracles happen. Imagine if you send an unexpected note to say it. Business and sales are all about human relationships. If you want to create amazing experiences for your customers, invest in your relationship with them. You won’t regret it.

2. Deliver “freaky fast” response times.

Time the most precious gift. It is also a measurement standard your clients will use to determine if they loved your service or they hated it. Deliver fast, anticipate if possible.

3.Eliminate long hold times. Don’t waste your customers’ time.

People hate waiting. We all do. There’s a bad feeling about being put on hold. IF you HAVE TO do it, you can use the opportunity to show your customers that you care about their situation and ask about their feelings.

4. Call the customer instead of making them call you for appointments.

Anticipate. Do their journey as pleasant and seamless as possible. Avoid touchpoints if possible.

5. Send a surprise “gift” when your customers are least expecting it.

Yes, you can keep sending gifts around the holidays, but also find other time to surprise your customers with an unexpected gift.

6. Have a contest in which everyone submits a creative – even unusual – customer service or experience idea.

Brainstorming is always a good place to begin with innovation. If you want to surprise your customers, start by asking. Involve as many opinions as possible. Remember that two heads are better than one.

7. Don’t forget that customer experience starts with the employee experience. Remember, what happens on the inside of the organization is felt on the outside by the customer.

We love Hyken’s work. His books have appeared on bestseller lists including the New York Times and Wall Street Journal. In 2008 the National Speakers Association inducted him into their Hall-of-Fame for lifetime achievement in the professional speaking industry.
