That’s the winning formula used by the VOXCENTRIX Contact Center team to achieve their ISO/IEEC 27001 certification.  We knew going in that it would not be easy but we also knew that “where there is a will, there’s a way”.  It took countless hours and many long days that involved meetings, conference calls, planning, consulting and hard work. But most importantly, it was a great attitude and the contribution of everybody in the team to make it possible.

 

 The journey

“For us to complete this goal we needed the support of the entire company. Everyone was onboard and committed to working as a team to accomplish this amazing milestone for our organization” said Joe Andere, Executive Vice President of the company.

“We wanted to show all of our clients that we understood the importance of the security and integrity of their information. “We set a goal of being ISO/IEC 27001 certified and we accomplished the mission” he added.

Transforming the process into something better

Voxcentrix, Inc. is located just five minutes from San Diego, CA and located in Tijuana, Baja California. Everyone involved in the process at Voxcentrix knew it wasn’t going to be easy. In fact, it was going to be almost impossible to accomplish, without the commitment of every person in the team. Communication was going to be a critical component; there was a lot talk, lots of meetings, hundreds of emails, letters and tons of literature and material to review. Every step taken was a step that needed to carefully documented and recorded.

Antonio Trejo, IT manager of VOXCENTRIX, who led the effort, added that “the amount of hours placed into planning, documenting, strategizing and executing paid off. We have a lot to be proud as an organization that is determined to provide world-class services. What is the ISO/IEEC 27001: 2013?

According to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the ISO/IEEC 27001: 2013 stands for “the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving an information security management system within the context of the organization. It also includes requirements for the assessment and treatment of information security risks tailored to the needs of the organization”.

According to the institution, “International Standards make things work. They give world-class specifications for products, services, and systems, to ensure quality, safety and efficiency. They are instrumental in facilitating international trade. ISO International Standards ensure that products and services are safe, reliable and of good quality. For business, they are strategic tools that reduce costs by minimizing waste and errors and increasing productivity.”

The benefits of being ISO/IEEC 27001: 2013 certified are numerous, but here are a few examples.

 

  • This certification is the international standard for Information Security Management.
